JANUARY.

January is a depressing month. We’re only 10 days in and it’s already proving to be pretty shit. I’m not a fan of the whole ‘dry January’ thing and it kills me how broke everyone is. Nobody seems to want to go out and I’m yet to let a carb past my lips this week. I thought I’d be grateful for the excuse not to go out (as I’m turning into something of a hobbit since I moved into the flat) but part of me really still wants to party. Seen as though that’s off the cards and my friends have all gone into hibernation mode I guess my only option is to spend my free time cooking and playing house in the tiny little rented flat I call home. I’ve always liked to refer to myself as a domestic goddess (without the aspect of cleaning and keeping too tidy) but since I moved out, my love for cooking and entertaining has become someone beyond my wildest imagination and it’s all I want to do these days.

As well as all this, I’m jumping on the January bandwagon along with everyone else this year and I’ve gone into health kick mode with a, dare I say it – ‘detox’. Every January I promise myself I’m going to change my ways, become a healthy person and make the lifestyle change I need to be thinner. This usually lasts a few months and then it gets to my birthday in April and goes downhill from there. I’m fully aware this year isn’t any different but I’ll give it a go anyway and hopefully get fit for summer or something along those lines. Either way I’m sick of overindulging and feeling gross so from the moment I stepped off the plane from Amsterdam on January 3rd I’ve been in ‘green goddess’ mode and so far, so good.

Apologies to those of you who really enjoy my gluttonous burger posts because I’m hoping to lay off the patties for the next few months and indulge in some of the finer AKA healthier things in life. With the odd exception (I’m only only human and food is my thing after all) expect mountains of courgetti, avocado on everything and kale. Lots and lots of kale. Maybe I’ll expand my audience and appeal to the fitness freaks among us or maybe everyone will hate it and I’ll no longer feel the need to post about everything I eat. Who knows. All I know is that I’m going to be eating a lot of green things going forward.
